Grampian Housing Retains SHIFT Silver Accreditation

GHA SHIFT Silver AccreditationSustainability Accreditation is done each year. This requires us to show how we are helping to remove carbon from across the whole of Grampian Housing Association and TLC Housing Maintenance.

Work has been carried out for the last few years and we have steadily improved. This has been done through:

— improving our housing stock, both old and new;
— by reducing the carbon associated with our business miles;
— by making sure when we refurbish our tenants homes that we recycle all the waste taken from the property;
— by looking to plant a minimum of 200 trees a year (to help with biodiversity and to help remove carbon) – this year we planted just over 400!

Chris Hunt, Sustainability Lead said, “I am proud to be associated with a company which takes Climate Change seriously and which takes action to combat it. Climate Change is an important issue for GHA and we know we need to play our part.”

"I am especially proud this year that we can look to combat fuel prices through our large scale solar project, helping many of our tenants — this year we have already installed 113 properties with solar panels — helping reduce the need for electricity from the grid and helping tenants combat high energy costs."
