Fair Work First Statement
The Grampian Group is committed to the advancement of Fair Work First criteria. As employers, Group Members care about giving staff an effective voice. Consequently, we work with staff and their representatives to put fair work practices at the heart of our workplace.
We demonstrate this through:
Collective Bargaining Agreement with UNISON
Grampian currently has a long-established Collective Bargaining Agreement in place with UNISON. A Grampian employee acts as UNISON Steward and represents the views of all staff below the Executive Team level, ensuring the collective voice is represented.
The Association has a strong track record of engaging with the union around both annual exercises (pay settlements), and also more irregular or one-off initiatives, (implementation and roll-out of a sector-leading Wellness Day for all staff and in addition to the Annual & Public Holiday leave entitlement).
Annual Colleague Engagement Strategy
Grampian conducts an annual Colleague Engagement Survey in order to measure the engagement levels of employees. An annual exercise, and now in its fourth year of operation – this anonymous, stand-alone survey is co-ordinated, administered, data processed and results generated by an independent third party, and market research consultancy provider. This ensures the survey is impartial, confidential and equitable for all employees.
Great Growth with Grampian — Performance Conversation Framework
Grampian’s Performance Conversation Framework – ‘Great Growth with Grampian’ – was co-created with staff, for staff, and to benefit the organisation. It sits within the corporate performance framework – playing a key role in linking the Business and Operational Business Plans, with Team and Individual Learning Plans. Great Growth is a key driver around continuous professional development and qualification attainment, and supports the People Strategy – which outlines the expectation around ongoing professional development from all employees.
With its focus on powerful conversations; deep listening; the setting and monitoring of goals/targets; discussing and agreeing learning & development activities; assessing behaviour competencies against corporate values; exploring wellbeing & resilience – Great Growth ensures employees regularly engage with their line manager for a mutually beneficial discussion around individual goals, workload, development, wellness.
Best Companies Accreditation
In 2025 Grampian formalised a 3-year agreement with Best Companies. This arrangement will deliver further enhancements to Grampian’s viability and appeal as an employer; and further strengthen employee voice. Engagement with Best Companies will provide:—
- Organisational Accreditation for Grampian Housing Association from a leading employee engagement specialist;
- This Accreditation will enhance Grampian's profile both to existing and prospectove employees, helping the Association to attract and retain staff;
- Due to the volume of Scottish Registered Social Landlords working with Best Companies, Grampian's participation will enable access to Peer Group Benchmarking data which will further assure stakeholders on Grampian's performance and reputation;
- Best Companies, through the annual survey, will provide powerful data and insights (from employee feedback) which will help drive positive change across several areas of the workplace.
We will establish minimum conditions in relation to the supply and procurement of goods and services which constitute regulated procurement as defined within legislation applicable to Scotland. We will also seek to see these applied to other unregulated procurement activity.
