Let's Choose is celebrating after its Osprey Heights development in Inverurie was announced Mid-Market Rent Development of the Year 2018.
It is the first year the new award has been presented by the SFHA (Scottish Federation of Housing Associations). Delegates at the annual conference voted for their favourite development from four shortlisted throughout Scotland.
Commenting on the SFHA Mid-Market Rent Development of the Year, Zhan McIntyre Policy Lead at SFHA said:
“I would like to congratulate Let's Choose on winning the first Mid-Market Rent Development of the Year.
“Delegates at the SFHA Annual Conference were very impressed with the quality of the Mid-Market Rent homes.
“With changes to the wider economy and shift in access to housing and affordability, mid-market homes have started to take their place as one of a range of good quality housing options offered by housing associations across Scotland.
“Well done to our colleagues at Let's Choose, and a wider thanks to all our colleagues up and down the country meeting housing need by providing high quality mid-market rent homes.
With changes to the wider economy and shift in access to housing and affordability, mid-market homes have started to take their place as one of a range of good quality housing options offered by housing associations across Scotland.”
The winning development at Osprey Heights comprises seven 3 bedroom houses with parking and are part a larger development by Barratt Homes. Mid-market rents are lower compared to the private sector with a monthly rent of £730.
Scottish Government funding of £335,720 was received towards the total development cost of £964,064.
raig Stirrat, director of business development, Let's Choose said:
any working households in Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen are on moderate incomes and do not qualify for social housing but cannot afford to buy or rent in the private sector, resulting in limited housing options. In addition, in the current economic climate where a household’s income could be at risk, renting offers more security. ur homes for mid-market rent provide a solution for these households.”
Targeted at key workers and people on moderate incomes, earning up to £40,000 per year, the award winning homes have been leased to people with low priority for social housing but who cannot afford to buy or rent in the private rented sector.
Inverurie is one of Scotland’s fastest growing towns. With an average house price of £227,840 home ownership is out of the reach of many households seeking quality housing. Let’s Choose offers a solution by extending the range of affordable housing options in the Aberdeen housing market area.
The SFHA Mid-Market Rent Development of the Year 2018 was sponsored by Citylets.
