Waiting List
In general, the demand for our housing usually far outweighs the supply.  We are not, therefore, able to assist everyone who applies to us, so we recommend that all relevant agencies, e.g. local Council housing departments and relevant housing associations are contacted by applicants.

Admission to Waiting List
The Association will accept applications from anyone over the age of sixteen who is in housing need, as long as the type and size of accommodation provided by the Association is suitable for their needs.  All applications must be fully completed, accurately and truthfully.  Receipt of applications will ususally be acknowledged within 6-8 weeks, due to the high volume of applications received.  Each application is assessed using a points system aimed at giving priority to applicants in greatest housing need.  The points system is applied to all applicants for both rented and Shared Ownership (part-rent, part-buy) housing.  The Association will only contact people on the waiting list if they are being considered for a vacancy.

Allocation of Properties
When a vacancy occurs, staff will contact applicants from the waiting list who will then be visited to discuss the vacancy and confirm their housing need points.  The property is offered to the applicant in greatest housing need or, where two applicants have the same points total, to the applicant who has been on the waiting list the longest time.

Review of Waiting List
Each application is reviewed every year on the anniversary of its registration with the Association. Applicants who do not respond to the review letter within one month will have their application withdrawn.

Nominations from Local Councils
The Association has nomination agreements with Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council and The Moray Council.  As a result of this arrangement, the Association aims to accept nominations for 50% of its vacancies, both new lets and re-lets.  In some rural areas, where the Association may not have its own waiting list or the waiting list is very small, the percentage of nominations may be higher than 50%.  It is therefore advisable that applicants register an application with the local Council.
